Overview of IELTS
This test focuses on a candidate’s English proficiency. This exam is divided into four sections:
|Speaking||It asses the English speaking proficiency of the candidate.*||8 to 9||11 to 14 mins|
|Listening||This section asses the candidate’s English listening proficiency.**||40||30 mins +10 mins to transfer answers to the answer sheet|
|Reading||This section asses the candidate’s English reading proficiency.***||60||1 hour|
|Writing||This section asses the candidate’s essay writing abilities in English.****||2||1 hour|
*Speaking test can be conducted before or after the IELTS main exam.
**Candidate needs to get used to the British accent and British terminologies. It’s a good idea to listen to BBC News.
***Academic test will have more difficult reading comprehension as compared to General Training.
****Academic test essay writing is more complex as compared to General Training.
